YIFTAH PELED
Tivon, Israel 1964
After studying sculpture in England, Yiftah started his artistic career in Brazil in 1991. He has been working in multiple directions - from sculptures, installations, multiples, photographs, objects, performance, urban interventions to experimental curatorial projects.
His work was exhibited at the 22º Bienal de São Paulo (1994), at the Panorama de Arte Brasileira at the Museu of Modern Art- MAM/SP (1999, 2005, 2010), at the Wall Project /Projeto Parede - MAM/SP (2011), at the São Paulo International Architecture Biennial (2019) and at the Performance Festival Verbo in Galeria Vermelho, SP (2005, 2008, 2019).
Since 2012, he has been an Art Professor in the Visual Arts Department at the Federal University of Espírito Santo - UFES - in Vitoria, ES. He is a Ph.D. in Visual Poetics, graduated from the Communication and Arts School at the Sao Paulo University - ECA/USP - researching performance and participation in Visual Arts.
Yiftah is involved in a Post Doctoral position at the ECA/USP, in São Paulo (2020 - 2021) while working in his studio and coordinating an experimental Performance Space in the city called Contemporão.
The artist's works are part of the art collections of Museum of Modern Art (MAM, Sao Paulo, SP); Nation Art Foundation (FUNARTE, Rio de Janeiro, RJ); MACBA Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona; Museum of Engraving (Museu da Gravura, Curitiba, PR); Art Museum of Santa Catarina (MASC, Florianópolis, SC).
